About Us
Hi, we’re Fusion and Elliot. When we opened the Mystery Shop in Ventura, CA in 2023, we wanted to create a place that celebrated the things we love—comics, games, movies, music, horror, and pop culture. Along the way, what started as a neighborhood comics and collectibles shop quickly grew into something more: a place where collectors, gamers, musicians, artists, and other creatives could shop, play, perform, and connect.
In June of 2024, we moved the shop from Ventura to downtown Oxnard, more than doubling our size and allowing us to expand our community events. Since then, we've welcomed hundreds of musical acts—from local artists to performers touring internationally—and have also been honored to host everything from art shows and plant swaps to comic signings, game tournaments, community aid pop-ups, trading card shows, zine workshops, and more—even a fashion show and live pro wrestling. We’ve been fortunate to work alongside many collaborators, volunteers, artists, and community members who have helped shape the Mystery Shop into what it is today.
At the heart of it all are the shared passions that bring people together: comics, games, horror, and pop culture. You’ll find the big titles everyone loves, but we're just as excited to introduce you to an independent comic, an underground zine, a local artist, or a new game that helps you find your people. We don't believe shopping for collectibles should feel like scrolling through an endless algorithm—it should feel like the thrill of discovering something unexpected. Whether you've been collecting for decades or you're just discovering a new hobby, we're here to help you find your next favorite thing.
Every order placed through our shop helps us continue creating a vibrant gathering place where creativity, connection, and community care can come together. Whether you're hunting for a rare collectible, looking for the next volume in your favorite manga, or hoping to stumble across something you didn't even know existed, we hope every visit feels like opening a mysterious portal to something wonderful.
